Who can become a registered client?
If you do not have a family doctor and are experiencing mental health challenges or struggling with addiction or are a family with a low income or are an isolated senior or are a youth experiencing challenges, we welcome you to consider becoming a Registered Client. Once you are registered with our Centre you will be able to receive primary health care services from a team of Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Doctors, Dietitian and Therapist.
Please note: non-registered clients can access community groups, dietition and therapist support.
- You complete an application form available at the centre. Our staff can help you answer the questions.
- Our staff will review your application. Priority will be given to people who do not have a family physician and who may have difficulty obtaining health and social services.
- You'll take part in an intake interview.
- You tell us more about your health needs and what you're looking for in a health care provider.
- We'll share with you the services that we offer and our partnership approach.
- We'll discuss if we can meet your needs.
- We'll assign you to a physician or nurse practitioner based on your health history and current needs.
- Once you become a registered client, you'll have an appointment for a physical exam. We'll ask you to sign a consent form so that your past medical records can be sent to us, if possible.
- assigned to one of our physicians or nurse practitioners.
- seen by another provider if the one you are assigned to is unable to see you.
- able to use the on-site lab services.
- able to participate in the Free Flu Vaccine Clinics held at the Centre each fall.
- able to access the after hours on-call service provided by our doctors and nurse practitioners.
- welcome to take part in all of the Programs and Services offered at WACHC.
- Our teams have better access to the information needed to provide you with quality health care.
- With your permission, your doctor or nurse practitioner will be kept up to date about your health care needs when you see a doctor in an emergency room.
- The health care system will increase its focus on helping you stay healthier longer.
Registering means that all the people who access services at WACHC agree to use our service providers as their main health care provider.
People who see more than one doctor (visit walk-in clinics and/or emergency rooms for non-urgent illnesses) increase the overall cost of our health care system.
The provincial government has introduced registration and we are doing our part to help manage health care so that it will continue to be available when people need it.
